Carnival Close to Home: Mardi Gras on the Northshore

Here we go, y’all! We’re heading into the last weekend of carnival season. It’s the grand finale, complete with the biggest parades and Mardi Gras day itself just around the corner. If you want to be a part of the celebrations, but don’t want to drive all the way into New Orleans and fight the monster crowds, there are plenty of parades still to come in neighboring communities on the Northshore.

Friday, February 24

6:30pm – Krewe of Selene – Slidell

7pm – Original Krewe of Orpheus – Mandeville

 

Saturday, February 25

9am  – Krewe of Bush Parade

 

Fat Tuesday, February 28

10am – Krewe of Covington Lions Club, followed by the Mystic Krewe of Covington

1pm – Krewe of Chahta Parade – Lacombe

2pm – Krewe of Folsom Parade

Also on Mardi Gras Day, from 10am-4pm, the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center in Hammond will be hosting their own celebration with king and queen parades every hour on the hour starting at 11am. There will also be edible Mardi Gras crafts, a costume contest, raffles and many more fun games and activities. Go here for details.
